Patient and Public Involvement Lead Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust/University of Nottingham
June 2012 - Present: Nottingham Digestive Diseases BRU and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust specifically for Centre for Evidenced Based Hand Surgery (CEBHS)
Lead for NDDBRU on all PPI/PPE activity, action planning and strategy, including facilitating local Patient Advisory Group. I am one of three PPI/PPE officers in clinical research within NUH. I also have responsibility for PPI/E for the CEBHS

Led on all partnership activity for the DAAT with both strategic and delivery partnerships across the seven district/borough council areas. Worked extensively with the Police on enforcement campaigns, communities on addressing substance fuelled ASB + promoting community safety campaigns, worked with schools on substance use educational programmes and worked closely with treatment providers

Managed and led on all community safety work for the local authority and led the local partnership working extensively with collaborators including police, Notts CC, local VCS bodies, domestic violence team, ASB team, PCT, fire & rescue service. This period of work also included a two year period of overseeing the partnership's engagement in a European Crime Reduction Initiative with colleagues in several European countries.
Expertise Summary
Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement (PPI/E) is a core function of both the University and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. I am the dedicated PPI/E Manager for NIHR Nottingham Digestive Diseases BRU. It has a Patient Advisory Group (PAG) of 54 strong (2/3rds women) and since my appointment in June 2012 it has supported 62 studies in the period up to 31/12/2015. The PAG membership has delivered over 550 individual PPI/E interventions in the same period e.g. supporting study design, study management, co-produced PPI/Research promotional materials, undertook dedicated training to develop PPI/E skills etc. PPI/E continues to be a strong and transparent priority in the NDDBRU's work.
I also provide PPI/E leadership for the Centre of Evidence Based Hand Surgery.

Current Research
Currently supporting has PPI/E lead 19 studies in the 2015/16 year, all at various stages of development, including Treatment for a dorsally displaced fracture of the distal radius with Professor Tim Davis and Alexia Karantana.
The bulk of my work is with the NIHR Nottingham Digestive Diseases BRU, in which 17 of the 19 studies supported this year come from this field.
Past Research
From June 2012, I have provided PPI/E lead for 38 studies for NIHR Nottingham Digestive Diseases BRU, and a further 11 for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
