University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust researchers have been awarded £268,000 by the MS Society to support the DELIVER MS trial.
The $10.6 million international clinical trial (funded by PCORI) will aim to provide an answer to the question: “Does early treatment with aggressive disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) improve the prognosis for people with MS?”.
The trial will be led by Dr Nikos Evangelou, Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Nottingham School of Medicine and a consultant neurologist, and Dr Daniel Ontaneda of the Mellen Center on the Cleveland Clinic main campus in Ohio.
The trial is looking to recruit 400 patients in the UK and 400 in the US diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
Recruitment will begin in January 2019.
