On 18 March 2021, Professor Derclaye chaired and moderated a panel on “Copyright’s New Frontier: Data or How Seismic Data Can Change our IP World”. The event was organised by the Canadian branch of the International association for literary and artistic property (ALAI).
The event revolved around a 2017 decision from the Alberta Court of Appeal which granted copyright on seismic data. The discussants were Prof. Teresa Scassa (University of Ottawa) and Stephen Burns (Bennett Jones LLP).
