On 5 November, Professor Derclaye was invited to talk about ‘The future of data in European and beyond’ at the online symposium on Intellectual Property and Technology in the New Global Age organised by Seton Hall Law School (USA). In the copyright session of the symposium, Professor Derclaye’s talk focused on the EU database sui generis right’s strengths and flaws and its impending revision by the European Union in light of the issues caused by machine generated data, big data and IoT. The other speakers were Professors Daniel Gervais, Vanderbilt University and Michael Caroll, American University.
The copyright session was attended by 95 participants and attracted a lot of interesting questions in the Q&A session.
