Date(s)
Tuesday 7th (13:00) - Thursday 9th July 2015 (18:00)
Description

The CRAL Corpus Linguistics Workshop will host the Summer School 'Corpus Linguistics: Tools and Applications' from 7-9 July, 2015. This Summer School will cover the latest developments in corpus tools and corpus applications through an intensive programme of interactive sessions to be run by leading figures in the field. It will provide participants with in-depth knowledge of cutting-edge methods and techniques for undertaking advanced research. This event is open to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students who want to improve their skills to apply corpus methods and use corpus tools in their own research. The programme aims at providing detailed introductions to the latest developments in software and techniques in the field, with practical hands-on sessions on how to employ these in your own research. Given the specialised nature of the programme, a basic understanding of corpus linguistics is recommended.

Topics of sessions include:

  • Collocational networks
  • Corpus stylistic analysis
  • Statistics in corpus linguistics
  • The language of climate change with WordSmith Tools
  • CPQweb

Please check the Summer School website for further information, which will be updated regularly.

The Summer School will be followed by the one-day symposium 'Corpus Linguistics Beyond Boundaries: Interdisciplinary Applications', taking place on 10 July 2015. Participants can attend one or both of these events.
