The first stage of the phase of data collection in the Life Imprisonment Worldwide: Principles and Practice project has recently begun. The initial research process comprises an international survey of numbers serving life sentences in different countries, the conditions under which they are held and their prospect of release. The results of this survey will provide much needed, up-to-date evidence, from which a strong case for improving international standards and policy related to life sentences can be made.
If you would like to contribute to the project by filling in the survey, please contact LIW@nottingham.ac.uk .
