Latest publication on alumina coatings

Work carried out by Tunji Owoseni and other members of the CME team has been recently published on Surface and Coatings Technology. Titled "Suspension High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (SHVOF) Spray of Delta-Theta Alumina Suspension: Phase Transformation and Tribology", the article investigates suspension high-velocity oxy-fuel (SHVOF) thermal spray deposition of a metastable δ-θ Al2O3 nanometric feedstock. The feasibility of producing quality Al2O3 coatings was demonstrated with a rather low cost and commercially available metastable δ-θ Al2O3. The coating was sprayed on to a stainless steel (SS 304) substrate and exposed to post-spray heat treatment at varying temperature and time durations. The samples were then studied for unlubricated sliding wear performance at room temperature. You may read the full article clicking here
