In January and February 2019, Dr Lila Matsumoto organised three weekly workshops led by herself, Katy Lewis Hood, and Lu Williams at Nottingham Women's Centre, focussing on women publishing poetry in small press publications such as Zines (self-made books expressing a particular concept, idea, or identity).
These sessions were open to the public, and allowed for students within the university's creative community and local artists and poets to work together to create Whole, a Zine filled with poetry written during the workshops. The workshops provided writers with a friendly and supportive envrionment within which to develop their work, resulting in some fantastic writing published in the finished product.
The making of the final Zine was supported by Grrrl Zine Fair, an organisation that focusses on making Zines as a way of celebrating contemporary feminism, who introduced the writers to new and exciting ways of displaying their work.
