Gongoozler by Joshua Judson

Gongoozler

We are very excited to announce that one of our current MA Creative Writing students, Joshua Judson, has had his debut pamphlet Gongoozler published by the wonderful Bad Betty Press

A new voice that all lovers of poetry should be looking out for.’ Roger Robinson

‘Pitch-perfect poems of youth, of discovering and stretching the limits of the self; full of images which crystallise the beauty of the real.’ Andrew McMillan

Judson's poems are inventive and lyrical, holding within them a deep connection to place: from the canal-side twitchels and river-thrashed hills, to visiting wards and the Co-op,  in ‘the town of the body’. The speaker channels the various ghosts held within, in an attempt to escape the self. Judson’s poetry is pop punk in all its fierce and fragile beauty, the honesty of a power chord, the way ‘an old old song can hit you exactly where you are and fill you with light’.
