Undergraduate studies
The BA English with Creative Writing is a major-minor degree, in which students will spend some time focusing on English as a discipline, and the rest of their time on creative writing. The amount of time spent on specialist creative writing modules increases year by year - up to 50% in the final year.

At MA level, students can also take advantage of placement opportunities, careers and employability support while enrolled on our MA in Creative Writing, or on the MA courses in English Literature and English Studies, that include optional modules in drama including Early Performances Cultures and Modernism and the Avant Garde in Literature and Drama.
There’s lots of extra-curricular activity that students can do to supplement their studies here at Nottingham. For example, students are encouraged to get involved in the Nottingham New Theatre, either behind the scenes or as actors/writers. Students can also get work experience on the University’s Letters Page, overseeing the publication of a literary journal with Jon McGregor.
