The archivist in Archives of Disease in Childhood has written a summary piece on the TORPEDO-CF trial praising the perseverance of the team. They state that studies often take years to get a study from inception to completion and highlight the resilience of the research team in delivering the study.
The multicentre, parallel group, open label, randomised controlled trial compared the effectiveness and safety of intravenous ceftazidime and tobramycin vs oral ciprofloxacin for the eradication of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in people with cystic fibrosis. The results do not support the use of intravenous antibiotics to eradicate P aeruginosa.
