The University of Leicester's Medieval Research Centre's 2018 Conference 'Troublesome Elements' is taking place at the George Davies Centre, University of Leicester, on Friday 23 November.
The conference focuses on the four elements—earth, water, air, and fire—in the medieval period. Dr Susan Kilby (INS Research Fellow) will be talking about 'Troublesome Earth': Medieval Peasants, Sustainable Farming and Elemental Theory', and Elisabeth Magin (CSVA PhD student) will be giving a paper, 'Taming Fire, Taking Revenge - Medieval Runes and Magic'.
