Jayne Carroll represented the Institute for Name-Studies at the Centre for Spatial and Textual Analysis, Stanford University, at its second annual Text Technologies Collegium. The theme of the collegium was networks; she joined scholars to discuss how networks might be used in textual studies to change the ways in which we engage with texts. Using examples from a range of current and past externally-funded collaborative projects, Jayne demonstrated the ways in which place-names, in an interdisciplinary context, are tools for the reconstruction of communications networks and an assessment of their use at particular points in time.
