All first year undergraduate students in the School of English are invited to our first ever Manuscript Workshop at King's Meadow Campus. This workshop is designed to give you time to look at manuscripts and rare books in detail and also to ask any questions that you may have about the items, handling historical documents or about manuscript and book conservation. It will be held on Wednesday 29th April, 13.00 to 1500, at King’s Meadow Campus. At the Manuscript Workshop, we are offering you the chance to do the following:
You will also be able to talk to Charlottle May (a researcher in 18th and 19th century correspondence and manuscripts), Annalise Grice (a researcher in DH Lawrence and 20th century books and manuscripts), and staff from the King’s Meadow Campus archives, who will be able to inform you on how to handle historical items and also how the items are conserved. Due to the nature of the items on display, there are only a limited number of spaces, so if you are interested in attending or have any questions please email Charlotte. King's Meadow campus is not just for students wishing to access archives; it is also a great place to work and an alternative to the busy Hallward Library, including a coffee bar. There are free hopper buses to King's Meadow Campus at quarter past and quarter to every hour, departing from University Park Campus East Drive. More information on getting to and from King's Meadow Campus is available here.
