An introduction to Graph Commons - a collaborative platform for making, analyzing and publishing network maps.

Teresa Castle-Green

I will be presenting an introduction to my PhD work. My research is focussed on the Internet of Things (IoT) and understanding how this nascent industry is developing in the commercial world.

The development of the IoT and its related ‘connected’ products is a fast-growing sector within industry. Increasing business and consumer acceptance of these products/services, alongside an increased availability of the required hardware, is making the development of these products more and more commercially viable. The role of design teams is central to the creation of ‘connected’ devices and, due to the diversity of this growing industry, skills are being adapted from multiple backgrounds and disciplines. My research is focussed on gaining a deep understanding of how this work of design is being organised.
