Trajectories from theory to practice: Multiple approaches for making a framework “do” design

In this long talk, I present three years and a half of research work around using the trajectories framework in design practice, starting with identifying a setting where my supervisors and I thought trajectories might offer useful insight, then putting them into practice by doing user experience design myself and at the same time trying to popularise the framework with an industrial partner. I will present what I expect to be the main contributions of the thesis I’m currently writing: how this research suggests extensions to the framework to adapt it to new design situations and how the use of the framework can be embedded in a design process. I conclude by discussing how this informs conversations on theory in HCI.
