Rachel Jacobs - Performing the Future

Rachel will be presenting her latest project exploring ways to envision positive futures in response to environmental change, focusing on the question 'can the data can help us as the future unfolds?'. Rachel will discuss her process of dialogue with researchers, scientists and the public through a series of workshops, artist labs and public interventions. Following on from the workshops she has been conducting at the lab this presentation will explore some of the emerging outcomes and discussions.

Tom Lodge - Data-driven graphics with databox

Another databox talk, but focusing on some of the recent work on the databox's graphical coding environment (sdk). One of the anticipated categories of 'privacy preserving' apps expected to run on a databox are infographics/visualisations to provide insight into the data being collected about us. The project has developed a tool within the sdk that makes it easy(ish) to connect data collected by the databox to the components of an (svg) image, in order to create realtime data-driven visualisations. Tom will provide a quick run through/demo of its use.
