Professor England uses psychosocial research methods to study evidence behind clinical decision making; he established the Centre for Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nottingham with Professor Malcolm Cobb and Professor Sir Peter Rubin.

Current Research
Gary England is an academic clinician who undertakes clinical work and research in the field of reproductive biology in dogs and horses. This work is designed to both enhance and to control fertility in these species.
In dogs his work studies peri-ovulatory physiology, cryopreservation of gametes, sperm transport and sperm-oocyte interaction. His was the first group to perform in-vitro fertilisation in dogs.
In horses his work studies follicular dynamics, ovulation, and sperm transport within the female reproductive tract.
