Biography
Kate Griffiths obtained a BVSc from Bristol University in 1984, after which she worked in small-animal general practice in Norfolk and Berkshire for 10 years. In 1994 she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, USA where she was able to pursue her interest in dermatology at a specialist dermatology referral practice. She then returned to general practice in the UK in 1996 and was awarded the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 2000.
While continuing to work in general practice in both a clinical and managerial role, she developed a second-opinion dermatology referral service for a large practice group in the Thames Valley. In 2002 she moved to Nottinghamshire, where she established a dermatology referral service for practices in the East Midlands, and joined the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science (SVMS) at Nottingham in 2007. She was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education in 2012.
Kate has actively contributed to the provision of continuing professional development in dermatology through her involvement in the British Veterinary Dermatology Study Group, in which she has served as Treasurer and President, and delivery of CPD teaching, both at Nottingham SVMS and externally.

Kate works as a Small Animal Module Convenor for Year 4 at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science (SVMS). Her responsibilities including curriculum planning and module organisation, in addition to the development and delivery of teaching and the development of assessments. She also contributes to the teaching in Year 2 Endocrine and Integument module, Year 3 Fundamentals of Veterinary Practice module, clinical teaching of dermatology in Year 5 rotations, and Communication Skills teaching across all years.
