Sustainable Process Technologies Research Group

7th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress

At the end of August 2018, 4 members of the Sustainable Process Technologies (SPT) research group ( Floriane Martins, Andreas Weilhard, Victor Sans Sangorrin and Christof Jaeger) participated at the 7th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress in Liverpool.

This fascinating conference at a breath-taking location was filled with scientific excellence, networking, and fringe events.

As part of the scientific lecture program Andreas Weilhard introduced his PhD work on ‘Selective CO2 Hydrogenation To Formic Acid with Multifunctional Ionic Liquids’ in the Catalysis theme and Christof Jaeger presented his latest research on ‘Thermodynamic Reaction Control in Radical SAM Enzymes’ in the Biological Catalysis section.

Floriane Martins presented her poster with such great success that she was filmed by the crew of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The video clip made it to YouTube and now we are only waiting for Floriane to become a YouTube star!

You can see Floriane in action below (from 0:53 to 1:22):

Fitting to the outstanding scientific quality fringe events rounded off the conference perfectly. The conference dinner in Liverpool cathedral was only topped by the super authentic live performance of the original ‘Bootleg Beatles’. We left a fascinating event walking away from the Mersey and humming Gerry and the Pacemakers.
