Biography
Mr. Raian Hossain is a Doctoral Researcher at the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, UK. Previously, he completed his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts (Social Science), majoring in International Studies from Monash University (Malaysia) and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Nottingham, UK. He received the University of Nottingham's flagship scholarship, the Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship, in 2019 and the Taiwan Research Hub PhD scholarship in 2022. He has held a Visiting Research Fellow position at National Chengchi University (NCCU), Taiwan, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Taiwan Fellowship. His work has been cited in the research briefing on Taiwan: Relations with China of the House of Commons Library and Taiwan chapter of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission 2022 Annual Report to Congress.
Mr Hossain is a Lecturer (currently on study leave to acquire PhD) at the Department of Global Studies and Governance of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Science (SLASS) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). His experience of working as a Research Associate in a renowned South Asian think tank, Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) gave him good exposure to policy relevant research. Since starting his PhD, he has worked as an Education Assessment Preparation Tutor under the School of Education at the University of Nottingham. Also, he taught as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a year two module, "Asia Pacific Security", for the School of Politics at the University of Manchester.
