Biography

I qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2008 and worked in small animal practice for 11 years prior to moving to the University of Nottingham. During my time in practice I enjoyed all aspects of veterinary work, and completed my Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Veterinary Dermatology.

At the University of Nottingham my role is quite varied. I teach on the final year rotations, supervising students both consulting and operating in local charity practices. I also work alongside the dermatology referral team, and assist in undergraduate dermatology teaching, particularly practical sessions. My main role involves developing and delivering post-graduate CPD which is delivered predominantly online, but I also deliver in-person attendance days. Within this role I act as personal tutor to newly-qualified vets as part of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Veterinary) Apprenticeship course.

Teaching Summary

I teach final year students both consulting and surgical skills as part of their final year charity rotation, and also assist in undergraduate practical dermatology teaching.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA) and am working towards completion of my Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE).
