Biography

Dr Robert Hyde is an RCVS recognised specialist veterinarian focusing on translating cutting edge computer vision research into practical benefits for animal health and welfare. He is co-founder of the University of Nottingham spin-out company Vet Vision AI.

Robert's research involves the use of AI and computer vision to monitor animal health and welfare continuously and objectively, meaning veterinarians and animal owners can identify problems earlier, prevent issues from occurring, and ultimately improve animal health and welfare across species. Robert became an RCVS recognised specialist veterinary surgeon in 2019, and obtained a PhD using AI to improve animal health and welfare in 2021. For his contributions to research he has been awarded both the Gertrude Cropper and Andrew Hendry research awards.

Dr Hyde has a keen focus on practical outcomes, and to translate cutting edge research into practically useful tools, he co-founded the University of Nottingham spin-out company Vet Vision AI; using computer vision AI algorithms to monitor animal health and welfare outcomes continuously and objectively.
