One year on from the 'green light' for the NRC Programme
30 September 2024
Posting 12 months on from the official ‘green light’ moment, the potential of the NRC is becoming even clearer with the building shaping up and the wider programme picking up pace as the NRC gets ready to start treating patients in 2025.
Back in September 2023, Programme Director Miriam Duffy said that “The National Rehabilitation Centre will transform how we provide clinical rehabilitation in this country” and Natalie Forrest of the New Hospital Programme said that “The benefits to NHS patients will be substantial and life changing.”
Today, those aspirations are a step closer to becoming reality.
The latest construction images and drone footage show a building that’s moving towards its final stages and fit out – you can get a real sense of it from these latest photographs taken in September.
There’s a great deal more to do, of course, but everyone is excited by the progress and grateful to all those who have contributed to getting us this far.
The achievement will only be realised when the benefits start flowing for patients - that’s the measure that matters and the thing everyone is looking forward to most.
For now, it is fantastic to make another milestone in the journey to deliver the NRC.
This time next year? Now that will be interesting and here’s looking forward to it.
