Energy storage soapbox
Energy Storage is surely one of the most exciting areas of engineering. It is an area where several fortunes will be made – and maybe one or two lost as well. Many solutions are emerging simultaneously as the magnitude of the opportunity becomes more and more evident and the commercial landscape is complex for many of those solutions. If there is one point upon which everyone in the field of energy storage can probably agree, it is probably that there no one energy storage solution addresses all of the timescales, energy scales or application areas.
The Energy Storage Soapbox part of UKES2024 is an opportunity to transmit a message into the community surrounding energy storage. In many cases, that message might be “Here is an opportunity you should look at”. In other cases, the message might be “we are not thinking about this correctly at all – here is a new perspective”. In others still, it could be a commentary on how proportionately strong (or weak) the UK is in specific areas of storage technology.
The Energy Storage Soapbox will commence in the last hour of the UKES2024 session on Wednesday. All conference delegates will be in the same hall for that session and presenters will have just 3 minutes each to introduce their respective messages. Then all delegates are invited to attend a drinks+snacks occasion where each presenter will have a stand and the conference cohort will circulate around those stands – learning, challenging and generally engaging. Expect to be hoarse but satisfied.
To participate in the Energy Storage Soapbox or to find out more about it, please Email UKES2024@nottingham.ac.uk with a message title beginning “Soapbox”. Participation costs only the conference registration fee of £280 – which includes the conference dinner.
