World Food Day 2024: co-creating solutions to advance sustainable food production and consumption

Every year, October 16 is set aside to celebrate and reflect on our collective progress in addressing global food system challenges. Many of our world's populations struggle to access healthy, nutritious, and safe food options and our production systems have critical consequences on our planet and health.
Academia has a role to play in generating data and bridging the gap with policymakers and consumers. This year's FAO theme is “Right to foods for a better life and a better future”,which covers challenges in food security, nutrition and sustainability.
The state of our food systems can often force producers and consumers to opt for dietary habits and supply chain processes that have negative impacts on our planet, health, and economy. To mitigate these impacts, we work on connecting the dots and bringing together interdisciplinary stakeholders to advance research and deliver actionable recommendations that have a direct impact on people and livelihoods.
