Sociology and social policy at Nottingham

Thanks for visiting our open day. Getting a feel for our campus, our community, and speaking to academics is only the start of your University of Nottingham experience. Here’s the chance to explore other resources that will give you further insight into life here.

The School of Sociology and Social Policy is a vibrant and diverse centre for social science teaching and research. Our courses allow you to explore how societies work - and what can be done when they don't.

This is the place where the world meets to change it

Current emphasis on social justice, welfare reforms, austerity measures, immigration, crime, community and identity mean there has never been a better time to study sociology or criminology and learn how we can all make a difference in society.

Recent graduates have been successful in developing diverse careers in the public and private sectors. Roles include journalist, broadcaster, housing assistant, policy officer, finance analyst, and human support worker.

Career destinations

Our Faculty Placement Programme gives you the chance to gain valuable real-world experience and build your confidence, so you feel ready to achieve your goals after graduating.

Placement opportunities

Study abroad options at Nottingham offer another exciting opportunity to take your learning outside the classroom, exploring new cultures and making new friends.
