Gymnastics teams produce medal displays at the 2025 BUCS championships
The University of Nottingham men's and women's gymnastics teams produced medal winning displays at the 2025 BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) championships, held recently in nearby Leicester across the 1st and 2nd February. Taking to the mat individually, each of our Nottingham athletes delivered fantastic displays to register a host of top three finishes, and bring home a clutch of medals.

With gymnasts competing across both men's and women's disciplines at the two day event in Leicester, the performances of our University of Nottingham representatives brought home medals in not only a number of individual events, but also hardware in both of the team categories.
Our women’s grades 1 and 2 team placed second overall to win team silver, with Louise Akers, Chloe Porter, Jasmine Thomas, and Izzy Whittaker also combining for three individual medals. Izzy Whittaker finished in first place on beam grade 2 to claim gold, whilst Chloe Porter won floor grade 2 silver, and Louise Akers took bronze in floor grade 1.
In the men's categories, our gymnasts continued to raise the bar as Luke Marsh, Musa Siddiqi, Karthik Apapa, and Zach Armstrong - the University of Nottingham men’s grades 1 and 2 team - would win six medals in an outstanding showing that would crown them BUCS team champions! Finishing with 106 points, five more than nearest rivals Loughborough, the team were lead by Luke Marsh. Marsh would win gold in the all round grade 1, high bar grade 1, and on floor, adding silver in the parallel bars and pommel grade 1 in a hugely dominant display.
Meanwhile Marsh's team mate Zach Armstrong would win the vault grade 2 competition, as well as finishing in second place on pommel grade 2. To round off the weekend, Nottingham's Rory Tann claimed silver for his performances in the vault grade 1 tournament, making it eleven individual medals for the green and gold, to go with two incredible team medals.
