Indoor silverware for Nottingham archers at recent BUCS championships

The University of Nottingham took the recent 2025 BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Indoor Archery Championships by storm, claiming a huge amount of silverware across almost all categories of competition. Taking place on the 16th March in Warwick, Nottingham students would win 8 medals, with 3 of those being gold.

At the finals, Sport scholar Louisa Piper dominated the Women’s Recurve competition to add another gold medal to her highly impressive career in BUCS competition, whilst both Men's and Women’s Recurve teams comfortably podiumed. Piper teamed with Hannah Evans and Daisy Underwood to claim women's team silver, whilst Mohammed Ahmed, Dom Kelsey, and Tristan Mok would form a formidable grouping to take men's team bronze.

Nottingham also had great success in Men’s Compound, winning team gold as Max Harding and Sam Cartwright displayed their superiority in the discipline, with both also finishing in first and second in the individual competition respectively. Alongside this, Nottingham's Kieran Rugg would also win bronze in the Men's Longbow.

The University of Nottingham also saw particularly impressive performances from some of our newer archers. Fraser Street only picked up a bow for the first time in September and managed to topple a GB archer in a series of matches that saw his clinical approach take him all the way to claim an incredible Men's Barebow second place in his BUCS debut. Meanwhile, in a similar performance, Daisy Underwood battled her way up from qualifying 23rd, managing to claim a 4th place finish in a phenomenal run of matches.

After an exceptional BUCS Indoor Championships, the University of Nottingham archery team now sets its sights on the BUCS Outdoor Championships in June with the hopes of sunny weather, great vibes and a lot more silverware.

Everyone at the university would like to congratulate everyone involved in the fantastic success and performances of Nottingham athletes at the 2025 BUCS Indoor Archery Championships.
