Taking place at Midlothian Snowsports Centre, the longest dry slope in the UK, sixteen competitors from Nottingham entered both the freestyle and racing categories, including 2023 BUCS medallists Ebba Cotton and Hermione Gray.
This year, the freestyle teams partook in both Big Air and Slopestyle, where the University of Nottingham came home with a gold in snowboarding Big Air, as well as a silver and bronze in snowboarding Slopestyle. It would be Ebba and Hermione taking home the hardware in 2024 with Ebba Cotton winning the snowboard Big Air BUCS title, whilst finishing just behind her team mate in third place in the Slopestyle, as Hermione claimed silver.
The ski category also had a 5th place for Nottingham's Anna Morgan in the slalom and a 6th place finish in the Ski Big Air category for Olli Crichard. The snowboard duals team of Hermione Gray, Ebba Cotton, Sam Massey, and Dan Searle also placed 4th, whilst the ski duals 1s and 2s placed in the top 30.
Nottingham’s race captain, Els Eaves, reflected on the performances by saying "I am incredibly proud of the race team for achieving some brilliant results despite the challenging conditions", whilst Rory Tann, freestyle captain, mentioned how incredible the standard of tricks in the freestyle was. The very cold and windy weekend didn’t stop Nottingham from bringing back a plethora of excellent results.
We would like to congratulate everyone involved in the success of University of Nottingham athletes at the 2024 British University Dryslope Snowsports Championships.
