The £40 million David Ross Sports Village offers an inspirational and accessible sports provision for all. The sports village has been supported by a significant commitment from Nottingham alumnus and Carphone Warehouse founder - David Ross, taking his total support for the University beyond £10 million.

Facilities at David Ross Sports Village

Opened in 2016, David Ross Sports Village offers world-class sports and fitness facilities that all under one roof on University Park campus.

The University of Nottingham portfolio includes the state-of-the-art David Ross Sports Village, with the largest sports hall and one of only four all-glass squash courts in the country, a dedicated archery, fencing and table tennis salle, martial arts dojo, high performance zone as well as a Sports Injury Clinic.

Parking

Parking charges and restrictions apply at the following times:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday | 8am to 5.30pm
  • Wednesday | 8am to 12.30pm

All visitors must pay and display using the machines or pay for parking using the RingGO app during the above times. Visitors can make use of one free 30 minute ticket per day and all sporting participants can access one free 2 hour ticket per day.

When all parking bays immediately surrounding David Ross Sports Village are occupied, pay and display users are permitted to park in any marked bay across campus (this includes areas that are sign-posted for permit only). All guests will be required to display a valid pay and display ticket as normal.

If all visitor parking bays in our David Ross Sports Village car park and the surrounding Beeston Lane are full, customers can use the following parking options around the centre:

Getting here

Customers can access David Ross Sports Village via entering the North or West entrances to University Park.

  • The North entrance can be accessed from the A52 Derby Road.
  • The West entrance is accessible from the roundabout between University Boulevard and Woodside Road.

When using a Sat Nav to travel to David Ross Sports Village, please use the postcode NG7 2RJ.

Buses:

Nottingham's bus network is extensive, with frequent services connecting University Park to the city centre and to destinations to the west of Nottingham including Lenton, Beeston and Chilwell.

Nottingham City Transport's (NCT) 34C runs from Nottingham City Centre onto University Park Campus, stopping outside David Ross Sports Village. In termtimes the 34C evening and Saturday services stop at DRSV, and in university holidays the 34C runs to DRSV throughout the day Monday-Friday. Alternatively, you can catch the NCT 36, which runs Monday-Sunday between the City Centre and Chilwell and stops on Derby Road a short walk from DRSV. Trent Barton buses can also be used to travel to DRSV, with indigo and i4 buses stopping closest to DRSV. See the Trent Barton and NCT campus bus maps for more information.

Tram:

Nottingham’s tram lines provide direct links to University Park from various points around the city - including Nottingham Train Station. The closest stop for DRSV is the University Boulevard stop. Our front of house/reception teams can call local taxi companies to order a taxi for you.

E-bikes:

Lime has launched an e-bike rental scheme in the Nottingham City area. Users can pick up and return Lime e-bikes from a network of designated e-bike-hire bays across the city – and there is pick up/drop off spot outside DRSV on Universitas 21 Avenue.

You can hire e-bikes through the Lime app which is available on the Apple app store or the Google Play store.

Cycling

If you want to cycle to DRSV using your own bike then there are cycle hooper outside the main entrance to the building plus additional cycle parking in the covered shelters on Universitas 21 Avenue. Don’t forget your D lock to secure your bike while you’re using the sports facilities.

Payments and cash machines

We accept card and cash payments on site at all of our sports centres, however there are no cash points on site. The nearest cash machines to David Ross Sports Village are at the Portland Building on University Park campus and at Co-op just outside the West Entrance to University Park.
