Classes of 2020 and 2021

Please see the information below to help you prepare for your ceremony.

Registration

When can I register?

For ceremonies taking place in August, registration opens in June - we will email you to let you know when the booking system is open, and provide more detailed information about the registration process

I have specific health requirements

If you and/or your guests have individual health requirements which impact on where you need to sit in the hall, you must advise us in advance of your ceremony. This could be wheelchair or mobility aid use, walking difficulties, anxiety, or other physical and mental health issues. Temporary illnesses affecting your ability to walk and/or sit should also be noted. Details of how and when to share this information will be provided shortly.

I am concerned about name pronunciation

If you have concerns about the pronunciation of your name when it is announced at the ceremony, you will have the opportunity to provide a phonetic spelling of your name during the registration process outlined above.

I have not received any emails

If you have not received any emails, we may not have your recent details or you may have opted out of receiving alumni communications.

Can I cancel my place?

If you’re no longer able to attend your ceremony, please contact graduation@nottingham.ac.uk

Guest tickets

You are guaranteed two guest tickets - providing you complete registration before the deadline.

We’re also happy to announce that for the first time this year if there is space at your chosen ceremony, you have the opportunity to request additional tickets free of charge. Once the registration period closes you will be notified if your request for extra tickets has been successful and how many extra tickets you have secured. Additional tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, based on the date of registration. Extra ticket allocation is in July for the August 2022 ceremonies.

If you have children under two, you need to apply for a child ticket to indicate they will be sitting on an adult's lap. Any child over three requires their own ticket.

Hire your hood and gown

You are expected to hire your gown from Ede and Ravenscroft, which produces the official University of Nottingham gowns designating the different degrees being awarded. Gown hire will open in June for the August 2022 ceremonies. Gown hire closes three weeks before the first ceremony.

Please ensure you keep your gown hire confirmation email safe (this can be on your phone), as you will be asked for this on the day.

Official photography

Photography will be available before and after your ceremony, and doesn't need to be booked in advance. You can find information about the packages available on Tempest Photography's website

Visa information

If you are returning for your ceremony, you will be sent a digital letter to confirm your attendance in the UK. You will receive this automatically during the registration process outlined above. In order to comply with current visa regulations, we cannot provide a letter to support your application before registration opens.

If you are bringing international guests the letter you have been provided with covers you and up to two guests. We are not able to provide letters for individual guests.
