  • Masters-level Student Information Hub (Education) (UK)

If you have problems accessing Moodle or your email account, or if you have any IT issues throughout the course, please contact the Digital and Technology Services as soon as possible by accessing the Self Service Portal or by telephone on +44 (0) 115 951 6677.

The Moodle Exploration page acts as a guide to your preparation for the course. It is important you work your way through this to familiarise yourself with the system.

The Masters-level Student Information Hub is where you will find much of the essential administrative information you will need throughout your course. It is important that you take time to explore this page. The student handbook is a particularly important document, and you should make time to familiarise yourself with this as soon as possible.

Your course homepage - MA Educational Leadership and Management (Online) - contains some introductory information regarding the course and the course tutor team. Please read all the information here carefully, and complete any pre-course activities. In particular, it is very important that you complete the pre-course activity on academic integrity and plagiarism.

Personalising Moodle

You might like to add a profile picture so that your forum postings will have a more personal touch. To do this, click on your name (towards the top right of the screen), select 'Preferences', and then select 'Edit profile'.

From the ‘Preferences’ page you will also be able to choose to receive a daily digest of all the module and course forum posts, rather than an individual email for each post. Just select 'Forum preferences' to explore the options available to you.

Starting the course

Your course starts on Monday 10 February 2025. During the introductory ‘soft start’ week beginning on this day, there is opportunity to familiarise yourself with Moodle, complete the introductory activities mentioned above, and get to know your fellow students.

Your modules

In the spring semester of your first year you will be taking the EDUC4115 Practice-based Enquiry module. This module will be available to you in Moodle from 12noon UK time on insert date.

In the autumn semester of your first year you will be taking the EDUC4096 Issues in Educational Leadership module.

Personal tutors and academic tutors

Once you have started the course you will be allocated a personal tutor, who can help you with all general course-related queries or concerns. To begin with, this will be your course leader, Martin Cummings.

For each module you take you will also be allocated an academic tutor, often within a tutor team, who will guide and support you through the assignment process and mark your work.
