Welcome to Nursing
Hi my name is Katherine Midgley, I am the Academic Plan Lead for the BSc (hons) Nursing programme.
I hope you are really looking forward to starting your nursing journey here and want to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing the University of Nottingham for the start of your nursing career. My role is to ensure that your programme runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible, and working with many colleagues across our organisation, we want you to feel confident and happy during your time here. I still remember my first day at University, and it is a very exiting time, but I also want you to feel pleased with you achievements so far in getting here- congratulations!
Please do read carefully through all the information you receive during the start of your course. The first important thing to make a note of is that you will be provided with a uniform for clinical practice, which is free of charge. You will also receive a free clinical skills t-shirt to undertake your clinical skills learning. More information on how to order your clinical skills top and uniform can be found on the uniform page. The uniform page will also provide you with more information on suitable clothing to wear in the clinical skills sessions and whilst out on placement.
To help support you through the course you will be allocated a personal tutor, who will be with you throughout your three years to offer you pastoral support. There will also be year lead assigned to each year to help guide your progression throughout the year. I’m also available as course lead to help ensure your journey through the course is a successful as possible. At any stage of the programme please do contact any staff member who would be happy to help you or signpost you in the right direction.
If you have any concerns or further questions, please do not hesitate to email me. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you throughout your journey with us.
