Catered and self-catered options to consider

The main differences between our catered and self-catered options can be found below.

Food Fees include 17 meals per week with breakfast and dinner in halls Monday to Friday and weekend evening meals, plus a flexible meal card for lunches that can be used in a variety of outlets across our campuses. You will need to budget for food shopping and for most sites will need to bring your own cooking utensils.
 Location All of our catered accommodation is based on University Park and Jubilee campuses, we have 12 halls on University Park Campus and two on Jubilee Campus. When you apply you can select individual hall and room type preferences.

Our self-catered accommodation is located close to our campuses with options to the east University Park and Jubilee campuses and to the west of University Park. We also have city centre based options.

 

Sutton Bonington Campus also offers self-catered accommodation.

Contract length 31 or 39 weeks. Normally 44 weeks, some options are also available with a 51 week license.

Some of the similarities between our catered and self catered accommodation are:

  • wi-fi
  • social spaces where you meet with friends
  • bicycle storage

Room types

There are a wide range of rooms available from standard single rooms with shared bathrooms, through to en-suites and self-contained studions including larger options. We also have accessible rooms in many of our sites and offer quieter living options in some of our catered halls and one of our self-catered sites.

The price of your accommodation will vary depending on the hall, room type, contract length and whether uou choose catered or self-catered. Locations

All of our accommodation options are located within easy travelling distance to our campuses and most are within close walking distance of your studies. The university also offers a Hopper Bus between Jubilee and University Park Campuses. For all cyclists all of our options offer secure bike storage. When applying you will able to indicate your top hall/site and room type preferences.

Quiet living options

Our quiet living accommodation options benefit from alcohol-free study and social areas with areas which are designated quiet accommodation. All students are happy to support the expectation that after 9PM no avoidable noise or music should be heard in adjacent corridors or rooms. Quiet living is available in Cripps and Licoln catered halls and at our self-catered site Albion House.

Catered meal package

The catered meal package includes daily light breakfast options, with full-cooked breakfast options served in certain halls, plus dinner. Packed meals are provided if required. A weekly allowance of £25.00 is also loaded to your University Card which you can spend on lunchtime meals to used at multiple cafes, restaurants and shops across University Park and Jubilee Campuses (this allowance will be cleared each Sunday if not used).

If you feel hungry outside meal times in our catered halls, you will find pantries in each hall with a sink, kettle, toaster and microwave.
