Mental health and wellbeing at university

Promoting health and wellbeing is a top priority at the University of Nottingham.

Starting university is an exciting but sometimes challenging journey. You're in a new place, meeting new people, and adjusting to a different lifestyle. This is why taking care of your wellbeing is so important. A healthy body and mind are essential for academic success and a fulfilling university experience. We are here to support you with personal, emotional, or mental health issues that might arise during your academic journey.

We also recognise the importance of proactively looking after your mental health and wellbeing. Our Health Improvement Team provides information on making healthier choices for your body and mind through our HealthyU site.

There may be times when you struggle with your mental health and wellbeing. That's why we have a dedicated wellbeing team, including support and wellbeing officers, counsellors, and mental health professionals, who work together to help you manage any wellbeing issues that affect your university experience.

Getting in touch with the team is easy. You can make an appointment through our MyWellbeing hub to speak to one of our Support and Wellbeing team members, who will guide you to the advice and support you need.

Your wellbeing is important to us

It's normal to experience anxiety, low moods, or feelings of not fitting in during your time at university. Different challenges can arise at different stages of your student life. University life can be busy, and stress can build up without you realising it. Poor mental wellbeing can hold you back from reaching your full potential.

Nottingham understands the value of creating an environment that promotes wellbeing. We are committed to making sure you, like all members of our community, feel included, supported, respected, and valued.

If you ever experience harassment or abuse, you can report it via our Report and Support platform. Our Report and Support team is there to offer advice, information, and support. You can report without making an official report, and we'll help you explore your options. Support will be provided whether you choose to report or not.

Just remember, whenever you feel down, don't hesitate to reach out. Your wellbeing matters to us, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
