Students at John Port School on placement

Extracurricular placements

Build your skills and gain extra credits towards your degree

The Faculty of Arts placements team advertise extracurricular placement opportunities throughout the academic year, via the internal Moodle page.

You can search for opportunities which best suit you, and the careers you are planning to develop into.

Recent opportunities include:

  • Marketing and content creation
  • Social media management
  • Podcast host
  • Video editor
  • Event management
  • Sales
  • Teaching
  • Teaching English as an Additional Language
  • Dementia Reading Groups
  • Museum curation
  • Charitable work

Time spent on extracurricular placements is eligible to contribute towards the Nottingham Advantage Award. This recognises your effort in taking part in these activities and gives you something to show future employers.

Volunteer at the Digital Transformations Hub

Faculty of Arts students can also volunteer at our on-campus Digital Transformations Hub.

After training in digital capture (still, video, audio) and post-capture editing skills, volunteers choose one of several digital-themed ‘real world’ projects to work on with internal and external partners.

In addition to project work, you will assist staff and students working in the Hub, as well as representing the Hub at events and activities throughout the faculty.

I have not only gained digital media skills learning how to use new software and produce content, but I have also improved upon my communication skills, time-management, and organisational skills, all of which are very valuable on a CV.
