Psychology Insights project

Students and organisations come together each year for this collaborative project with lasting real-life impact

Hear from local organisations and passionate students about their experiences taking part in the Psychology Insights Project. Representatives from The Pythian Club, St Anns Advice Centre, and IntoUniversity talk about why they chose to be part of the project, what they've gained from it, and why they believe it's important to welcome students into their professional settings. Undergraduate students reflected on the research and work they've achieved for their organisations, challenges they faced, personal development, and how this experience will help their future careers.

Looking for an opportunity to grab the attention of your future employer?

Consider applying to our Psychology Insights project and find out what the world of work can look and feel like. Watch the video to hear from students and organisations who have taken part.

The project at a glance...

Psychology students from across year groups who successfully apply will be allocated into small groups. These will be your new colleagues!

Each group will be introduced to representatives from a local organisation. You'll be briefed on a live project they'd like you to work on. This is done alongside your studies.

Your work will genuinely impact the organisation and the communities they support. At the end of the project, you'll present your experiences back to everyone involved in that year's Psychology Insights project.

What skills can you gain?

  • Leadership, project management and decision making.
  • Team work and collaboration between your group and the professionals you're working with.
  • Office skills like communicating professionally via email, using certain software, scheduling meetings, and organising your workloads.
  • Improve your research skills and apply them to real life problems.
  • Reflection and evaluation as you report on the meaningful impact your finished work will have.
