Embrace the power of AI

How understanding Artificial Intelligence can lead to a career in UI/UX Design

When most people think of Computer Science, they picture hacking and programming, like you see in pop culture.

But what really lies behind computer science is much more interesting. Alongside the core maths and logic skills, you will be taught advanced concepts like artificial intelligence (AI).

With the rise of chatbots, smart home devices and AI image generation, AI has been taking the tech world by storm. So, now’s a good time to get in on the action and enter the workforce with skills in this growing market.

Throughout your degree, you can take modules that focus on AI, like the Human-AI Interaction module in third year.

Human-AI Interaction

The Human-AI Interaction module takes a deep dive into what AI is and how we humans can fully utilise its power.

You’ll cover how AI is currently used and the issues that this brings, such as bias in AI. Once you have a grasp of this, you’ll delve into how AI can be used in the future.

You’ll then have a go at making your own chatbot that talks and types like a real human. This experience will teach you lots about designing a product with user experience in mind, which can open doors to a career in UI/UX Design.

Plus, when you know how to make a chatbot, you can add this to your graduate portfolio to give employers a working example of your expertise.

Andrew takes us through some of his favourite things about studying the Human AI Interaction module in year three:
