Turning your passion into a career

Find out how NUBS graduate, Sacha Nasan, has been taking the App Store by storm

Sacha graduated from Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) in 2017 with a degree in Finance, Accounting and Management BSc. Since then, he’s gone on to great things with his latest app development; Blindlee.

Sacha describes the app as “Tinder meets Zoom” helping users to find love through a three-minute blurred video call before initiating a match. Within the first year of launch, Blindlee reached 23,000 users, propelled by the need for online video experiences during the pandemic.

Getting started

Sacha’s passion for app development started before he joined us at Nottingham, developing his first app at just 15. Using his self-taught iOS development skills, he created Currency Converter Pro, which topped Apple’s App Store across Europe.

He then began ‘app-flipping’ - which he likened to house-flipping - where he bought source codes for existing apps and made improvements so they could be sold on the App Store before reselling the source code.

His passion for app development continued while studying at Nottingham with an app consultancy side hustle, before going on to create Blindlee in 2019.

Building Blindlee

Blindlee is the brainchild of Sacha and his cousin, Glenn Keller. They wanted to build a unique dating app that gave users the opportunity to find out more about their potential matches before meeting in person.

With the blurred video concept in mind, they built the app in just 5 months with investment from their own personal funds.

Through beta testing and user feedback, the pair were able to refine the app’s features to create a great user experience that took off quickly during the pandemic.
