How to get to the city centre from Jubilee campus

The University of Nottingham is within 4 miles of the city centre and there are many transport links that will get you there. In fact, it’s so close that you might even take yourself there on a bike or on foot!

So how do you get to Nottingham’s city centre from the University of Nottingham's Jubilee campus?

There’s a number of options you can take depending on your method of transport.

Some students will have access to a car. This is still the most convenient method of transport. There are a number of car parks within the city centre that you can choose from that accept online payments.

Car

Going via the Castle Bridge Road (average journey time: 15-20 mins)

> Head south on Triumph Road towards Derby Rd/A6200 (0.1 miles)
> Continue on Derby Road/A6200 then take the A6130 to Castle Bridge Road (0.9 miles)
> Follow Castle Bridge Road to Queens Drive/A453 (0.6 miles)
> Continue on Queens Drive/A453 then take London Road/A60 and Canal Street/A6008 to Middle Hill (1.3 miles)
> Continue on Middle Hill then take Fletcher Gate to St. Peter’s Gate (0.5 miles)

Going via A6200 (average journey time: 15-20 mins)

> Head south on Triumph Road towards Derby Rd/A6200 (0.1 miles)
> Continue on Derby Road/A6200 then take A610, the A6008 and Queens Road to Middle Hill (3.1 miles)
> Continue on Middle Hill then take Fletcher Gate to St. Peter’s Gate (0.5 miles)

Going via Queens Drive/A453 (average journey time: 15-20 mins)

> Head north-west towards Wollaton Road/A609 (95 feet)
> Take Middleton Boulevard to Clifton Boulevard and Queens Drive/A453 to Middle Hill (4.8 miles)
> Continue on Middle Hill then take Fletcher Gate to St. Peter’s Gate (0.5 miles).

Bus

Nottingham runs an award-winning public transport system. It’s fast, friendly and incredibly efficient. Travel passes are available and will include use of the trams too.

Take the i4 Indigo – runs every 6 mins (average journey time: 10-15 mins)

> Walk from the campus to Hillside (Stop LE01) (233 feet
> Take the i4 Indigo and get off after 10 stops (Stop ID: ntmadagm)
> Walk from Friar Lane (Stop F4) to the square (0.2 miles)

Take Bus No. 28/30 – runs every 9 mins (average journey time: 15-20 mins)

> Walk from the campus to Marchwood Close (Stop WO36) (157 feet)
> Take Bus No. 28/30 and get off after 10 stops (Stop ID: ntmadwdw)
> Walk from NTU City Campus (Stop G2) to the square (0.2 miles)

Take Bus No. 35/36 – runs every 6 mins (average journey time: 15-20 mins)

> Walk from the campus to Hillside (Stop LE01) (233 feet)
> Take Bus No. 35 and get off after 9 stops (Stop ID: ntmadagm)
> Walk from NTU City Campus (Stop G2) to the square (0.2 miles)

Take Bus TWO – runs every 15 mins (average journey time: 25-30 mins)

> Walk from the campus to Marchwood Close (Stop WO36) (157 feet)
> Take Bus TWO and get off after 10 stops (Stop ID: ntmadwdw)
> Walk from Upper Parliament Street (Stop U5) to the square (0.2 miles)

Tram

Take the Tram towards Hucknall – runs every 10 mins (average journey time: 25-30 mins)

> Walk from the campus to the University of Nottingham tram stop (0.4 miles) 
> Take the Tram and get off after 7 stops at the Old Market Square (Stop ID: ntmwtmtm). 

Bicycle

Or perhaps you’d prefer the more scenic, carbon zero alternative?

Going via Castle Boulevard – 2.3 miles (average journey time: 15-20 mins)

> Head east towards Radmarsh Road
> Continue onto Radmarsh Road then
> Turn left onto Derby Road/A6200 then
> Turn right onto Lenton Boulevard/A6130 and continue to follow the A6130 then
> At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Castle Boulevard/A6005 and continue to follow the Castle Boulevard then
> Turn left onto Maid Marian Way
> Turn right onto Friar Lane
> Turn left onto Beastmarket Hill and then
> Right onto Long Row W

Or

Going via National Cycle Route 6 & Castle Boulevard – 2.5 miles (average journey time: 15-20 mins)

> Head south towards National Cycle Route 6 then
> Turn left onto National Cycle Route 6 and turn right onto Derby Road/National Cycle Route 6/A6200 then
> Turn left onto Hillside/National Cycle Route 6 and continue to follow this and
> Turn left onto Leen Gate/National Cycle Route 6 and turn right onto National Cycle Route 6, then
> Turn left onto Abbey Street/A6005 and continue to follow this then
> At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit and continue to follow Castle Boulevard then
> Turn left onto Maid Marian Way
> Turn right onto Friar Lane
> Turn left onto Beastmarket Hill and then
> Right onto Long Row W

Walking

Going via Derby Road – 1.7 miles (average journey time: 35 mins)

> Walk east towards Radmarsh Road then
> Continue on Radmarsh Road and
> Turn left onto Derby Road/A6200 and slight right to stay on Derby Road/A6200 and continue to follow Derby Road, then
> At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Upper Parliament Street/A6008 then
> Then turn right onto Chapel Bar and
> Follow Chapel Bar as it bends left and turns into Angel Row/Long Row W
> Then follow Long Row W to the centre.

Cycling and walking times will vary depending on how you navigate the journey (and how many miles to the gallon your legs are capable of!)

Also, real-world conditions and disruptions will factor in – usually at the most inconvenient of times! Having a list of alternative travel options and routes will always come in handy when you’re on the move.
