The Maycock-Whileman Scholarship offers financial support to students who have been granted asylum to the UK on the basis of refugee status.
This award has been established as a result of a generous donation to the university from the late Mrs Betty Whileman and provides one award of £1,000 per year to a successful recipient for the length of their course. The award is paid directly to the successful recipient and does not have to be paid back after you graduate.
To be considered for this award, students must submit an application so we can assess their eligibility against the criteria.
Applications for 23/24 are now open and will close on the 28th February 2025.
To receive the award in 2024/25, you must:
*A 'home' student is one who meets certain UK residence criteria. These are the same criteria as apply to eligibility for home funding from Student Finance.
Applications are assessed after the 28th February 2025 closing date. If you are successful for an award, we will contact you via your University email address within the 4 weeks of application closing date. The award will appear in the Financial Aid section of your MyNottingham portal. If we need to contact you about your application, we will send an email to your university email address.
If you are unhappy with the outcome of your application for a Maycock-Whileman Scholarship you should initially contact us to discuss your concerns.
