International Media and Communications

What is communication? How does it differ across cultures? What impact does technology have? How is it used to influence and control?

As well as the big societal impacts we also explore how we are shaped by the media and how we express our own identity through communication.

Investigate a spectrum of theories and insights, tackling themes like media and cultural labor, power dynamics in the digital realm, and ethical communication complexities.

Language and Culture

Our program prioritises language acquisition, offering nine diverse options suited to all skill levels. Through tailored classes, you'll master fluency while gaining cultural insights. This interdisciplinary approach empowers you to engage in cross-cultural dialogues and connect with diverse communities.

Skills Development

The programme emphasises practical skills alongside theory, covering media analysis to cultural sensitivity. Engage in real-world projects and industry collaborations for hands-on experience in creative fields.

Hollywood Internships Program

Through internships with prominent organisations like A24, Disney, Warner, Paramount, Sony, Lionsgate, and WME, you will gain firsthand exposure to the entertainment industry's inner workings, from script evalutation to audience research.

Supported by industry experts and alumni, including Peter Rice, former Chair of Disney General Entertainment Content, these internships provide unparalleled opportunities for professional growth and networking.

The awards are competitive, and part of an extensive placements programme at Nottingham

What our students say...

The course allows me to shape the media and communication work towards the language I am learning, for example I've taken a Hispanic Cinema module, a Transnational Media module and last year I took a Spanish Literature module. The Hispanic Studies side definitely complements the International Media and Communication side, they go together really well.
