Recycling key to jet zero success

Sustainably meeting demand for composite materials is key to achieving net zero aviation. Researchers at the Institute for Aerospace Technology helped Boeing to become the first manufacturer to recycle 100% of its excess carbon fibre for use in new planes.

World’s first micro prospectus

We created the world’s first micro prospectus – the first edition alone saved 72 tonnes of paper, 18,000kg of CO2 and 54,000 litres of water in processing the paper, enough to keep every student at our university hydrated for more than six weeks.

Our WasteNott campaign is reducing single-use plastic waste across our campuses, including the 1.5 million plastic drinks bottles and coffee cups thrown away every year. By raising awareness and providing alternatives, we can make a big difference.
