A world of opportunities

Welcome to our volunteering opportunities page, where we're working hard to ensure our roles can be carried out virtually in current circumstances. As well as listing the roles here, you can keep updated through our alumni LinkedIn group too.

If you haven't already done so you can also register your interest  to volunteer and we'll send you a bi-annual newsletter which includes upcoming volunteering opportunities.

Our current opportunities are listed below, along with the relevant information needed for you to apply or contact one of the team. Happy volunteering!

Current opportunities:

Arts and Humanities work placements

As the UK's most targeted university by graduate employers, Arts and Humanities students at the University of Nottingham have become renowned for their quality, fresh ideas and can-do attitude.

If your organisation can provide a virtual work placement now, or in the future, please register your details here. We’re particularly interested in sourcing work experience in the media or publishing sectors, but all offers are very welcome. You can also let us know about any office-based placements you are planning for the future.

Inspire the next generation of Women in STEM

According to 2019 UCAS data, only 35% of STEM students studying at university are female. Here at Nottingham we are working hard to raise the profile of women in STEM and encourage our students and alumni to become empowering role models for the next generation.

Each year around International Women’s Day we run a series of activities including an outreach programme in conjunction with local schools to encourage female pupils to consider studying a STEM subject at university and a range of virtual talks with inspirational alumni speakers from the faculties of Science and Engineering.

If you are interested in getting involved with these activities, email the Volunteering and Advocacy Team to be put in touch with our Faculty leads.

Supporting students from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds

Over the last year, we’ve hosted a series of events celebrating the careers and achievements of our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic alumni, and launched a pilot mentorship scheme in Science to connect current students with BAME mentors. If you would be interested in getting involved in these initiatives during 2021 email the Volunteering and Advocacy Team to be put in touch with our Faculty leads.

Alumni profiles - international focus

It has never been more important to provide our prospective international students with advice and support on making the move to the UK and studying at the University of Nottingham than it is right now.

We are currently looking for profiles from alumni from Egypt, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey in particular. If you graduated less than five years ago and have ten minutes to spare - tell us why you chose to study at Nottingham and how this has shaped you and your career. Your advice could make the difference in inspiring a prospective international student to study at Nottingham.
