Types of placements and internships available

Internships
Students from all degree backgrounds seek internships, typically in the summer for 6-12 weeks, with companies of all sizes and across all industry sectors. SME’s can access funding to assist in the creation of opportunities.
- Industrial placement years
Integrated industrial placement years exist in the following degree disciplines: Engineering (all subjects); Chemistry; Biosciences; Computer Science and; Neuroscience. Students undertake placements for 10-12 months.
- 1 day per week during term time
Students from a variety of Schools can undertake 1 day per week placements, typically with businesses based in the East Midlands. In some cases these contribute towards an accredited module within their degree.
- Work shadowing
For many students, a less formal period of work shadowing with people in industry can give an insight in to different occupations and career paths. These tend to be on a flexible basis around studies.
