Call for Expressions of Interest

CeDEx at the School of Economics, University of Nottingham invites expressions of interest for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (2020).

The Centre for Decision Research and Experimental Economics (CeDEx) is a world-leading research group that investigates human decision-making using theoretical and experimental methods. It is based in the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham.  We are inviting expressions of interest by postdoctoral researchers of any nationality to apply jointly, with a CeDEx host supervisor, to the EC Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual European Fellowship Scheme under the 2020 call.

Individual Fellowships support the mobility of researchers within and beyond Europe, and the grant usually covers 12 to 24 months of salary, a mobility allowance, research costs and overheads for the host institution.  Individual researchers submit proposals for funding in liaison with their planned host organisation.  Proposals are judged on their research quality, the researcher's future career prospects, and the support offered by the host organisation.  Fellows can also spend part of the fellowship elsewhere in Europe if this would boost impact, and those restarting their career in Europe benefit from special eligibility conditions

This year’s call opened on 8 April 2020 and the final deadline for applications is 9 September 2020.

The Programme Guide for Applicants to this call can be found here (PDF).

To be eligible to apply you must:

•    not have spent more than 12 months in the UK in the last 36 months prior to the call deadline
•    have a PhD (or equivalent), or four years full time research experience.

We are seeking expressions of interest from PhD students or early career researchers in Economics, with demonstrable interest and experience in behavioural and experimental economics.

Expressions of Interest should consist of a:

•    covering letter of no more than 1 side of A4 paper
•    Curriculum Vitae (CV) no more than 2 sides of A4 paper
•    3-page research proposal summary which should include:

  • Your research concept
  • The current research problem/gap you will address and what your specific contribution will be – focus on the novelty and any multidisciplinary aspects
  • Your unique skills/ experience to carry out this work and outline the synergy between the host organisation supervisor (including any previous work you have carried out together)
  • How this grant will impact your career and your capacity to reach a position of professional maturity following the MSCA IF award

Please submit your documents by email to CeDEx Administrator to arrive no later Friday 3 July 2020.

CeDEx will select a candidate that it wishes to support for the Fellowship by Friday 17 July. If you have not heard from us by this date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful.

The selected candidate, together with their proposed CeDEx supervisor, will prepare their full proposal to submit to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship by the final deadline of 9 September 2020.
