Hassan grew up in Oxford and from an early age had the opportunity to travel to many places with his father who is also an Imam. He studied at a religious seminary in Coventry and Nuneaton and went on to college in Harrow, London. He enjoyed the blessed opportunity to study under an array of scholars. He then went on to further his religious theology studies in Karachi, Pakistan. Completing his degree in Islamic Theology and Jurisprudence, he returned to the UK in 2002 and began his duties as an Imam.

Currently Hassan is a full time Managing Chaplain in Derbyshire and is actively involved in the JAS, Council of Sunni Mosques in Nottingham.

Hassan enjoys watching movies, great food and keeping fit running after his two young children.

Please note Abida is currently on Maternity Leave and unavailable for Chaplaincy appointments. Abida is from Nottingham and studied at the University of Nottingham. She has been teaching in the School of Sociology and Social Policy for almost a decade. In her student days she was recognised by the Students Union for her outstanding contributions to societies and interfaith/diversity work.  She is a member of BBSI (British Board of Scholars and Imams). She has worked to deliver symposium, research and consultations with Imams and Scholars on pertinent issues within Muslim communities. Abida is keen on addressing issues of environment through her faith. She has been involved in several interfaith initiatives and has worked to expand an understanding of Qur’an. She has worked closely with UoN theology department and local schools to teach them about the basics of Islam and the Islamic prayer.    


Abida enjoys playing tennis, painting, baking wedding cakes and scenic walks. She has travelled widely and enjoys discovering new places.

Saima is a well known face in Nottingham Muslim Community, for her voluntary roles at Karimia Institute for many years. She is a Mosque Committee Member at Wollaton, where she leads arrangements and management of several community and interfaith engagement services. Saima has got an MA in Islamic Education from Markfield Institute of Higher Education, a diploma in Islamic Studies, from Dar ul Arqam, and she's got her certificate in Tajweed and Hadith courses as well.  

Saima has worked as a chaplain at Nottingham Trent University since 2022 and we are delighted to have her join the University of Nottingham as well. 

Originally from Pakistan, Saima has lived in Nottingham for last 21 years, has raised her family of 4 children, who are all very much interested in travelling, and learning about different cultures and communities.
