Dr Joy Egede 2021 Women of the Future Awards

Dr Joy Science Winner

Dr Joy Egede receiving her award

Congratulations to Dr Joy Egede, who has won the 2021 Women of the Future Awards (WOF) in the Science category at the award ceremony held on the 10th of Nov 2021 at the London Hilton on Park Lane. The Women of the Future (WOF) Awards celebrates the achievements of successful young women in Britain, unearthing and recognising inspirational stars and leaders of tomorrow across diverse sectors.

Joy was awarded for her accomplishments in using Science and Technology to solve real-world problems that would make a difference in people’s lives; a dream she had pursued from an early age and is evidenced in her previous job roles. Today, Joy’s critical and ever-expanding work focuses on developing novel artificially intelligent digital healthcare technologies. In particular, her groundbreaking work on automated pain assessment in babies has advanced machine learning research and positioned her as a world leader in this field. The WOF Team believe that this recognition will help Joy unlock the funding for her important work—assessing pain in babies—the scope of which is expanding rapidly. Her commitment to championing the inclusion of Women in Science through activities that encourage and equip women and young girls with skills to get involved in STEM has been incredibly inspiring.
