First year student Jessica Allen wins UKELA Andrew Lees Competition

First year student Jessica Allen has won the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA) Andrew Lees Competition for her essay on environmental law.

The essay question set by UKELA was: 'In UK environmental law today, politics and law do not mix. Discuss.' Jessica's winning entry was selected by some of the top academics in the field of environmental law. She won as a prize a sponsored place at the UKELA conference in Edinburgh. Her essay has also been published in UKELA's publication, e-law.

Independently of the competition, another of Jessica's articles was also selected for publication in e-law's student submissions section. This experience will no doubt stand Jessica in good stead for her tenure as Editor of Advocate, the University of Nottingham student law magazine in the new academic year.

You can download Jessica's prize-winning essay from the UKELA website. A copy of e-law containing both of Jessica's articles will be made available for non-members 6 months after its publication.
